Saturday 15th August Broome

Well we are now on the count down to saying farewell to Broome where we have been since the 28th July when we pulled in from Fitzroy Crossing which all now seems a long time ago.

Since being here at the caravan park we have seen many others come and go and have had many neighbours. We have had the snorer who really made the ground vibrate. We have never heard such a noise before and it caused us some concern as we believe it can result in breathing problems. When I asked his girlfriend how she managed to sleep through it all she amazed me by saying that she had become quite  use to it and of course the evening drinks help her sleep well. She did admit that her partner suffered from sleep apnoea and would in future make him wear his breathing mask at night, which should fix it. True to her word we never heard  another sound. We have had those people who seem to have a booming voice and can’t talk quietly, the couple that watch movies with ear pieces and continually laugh out loud and giggle. The crying children and the camper vans full of youthful overseas visitors. Not forgetting the caravans that have satellite TV and watch it with the volume at a level that we are almost in there with them except we can’t see the picture. Do you know how annoying those games show can be!  We chatted to a young couple who have been travelling around Australia for the last 18 months getting work where they can. They were very happy as she had secured a nursing job at the local hospital and he as a mechanic at the scooter hire shop. Unfortunately they had also hired a scooter and came off it at a round about with Emma getting grazed quite badly and ending up back at the hospital where she had just had an interview.  They didn’t think it would take long to heal and that she should still be able to start work in a couple of weeks time.

Though there are some upsides to it all because as I sit here every where is very quite except for the most beautiful singing and guitar playing that I have ever heard, just wafting across the park under the stars and the coolness of the evening. She truly has a great voice and in the darkness has gathered quite a crowd around her , as she sits by her camper van and the the  flickering of her candle light.

We sat and read and started to tidy the place up as we seemed to have spread out a bit over the last few weeks.
