Broome Saturday 8th August 2009

Roebuck Bay Caravan Park

We have been having such a great time and feeling so relaxed and in tune with Broome that we managed to wangle another week here and will now be leaving on the 18th August. Normally they only allow a two week stay as the spots are very much in demand with people queuing up outside the caravan park every morning waiting to see if there is a space for them. We were lucky!

Back to the supermarket to pick up some bread and milk etc and a trip to the fresh fish outlet to buy some Threadfin Salmon.which is thought to be even better that barramundi.

Walking around Chinatown the motor vehicle is supreme as all pedestrians have to give way to them and  most of them are the big 4wd ones so you have to be really careful!

We set ourselves up in the right spot this evening to watch the moon rise at 7.41pm for the effect of the staircase to the moon. Once again the event had created quite a crowd but unfortunately we were all disappointed once again. The fires that were  still burning further north had caused a giant smoke cloud along the horizon and by the time the moon had risen above that the effect had been lost. We had one more chance tomorrow but we didn’t think it would be much better as the fires were still burning.

A poor result for the Staircase to the Moon.
