Adelaide Sunday 4th October.

Saturday we went out to see Port Adelaide to visit the SA Maritime Museum to see the history of of the area, and to do a heritage walking tour of Port Adelaide.

We were impressed by the number of the original buildings that had been retained and the work that had taken place to keep the Ports history alive, especially since it is no longer a major working harbour. Seeing a cruise boat about to take a trip on the Port Adelaide River we decided to pay our $5 each and hop onboard. This is advertised as a dolphin cruise and we were introduced to the numerous dolphins that play and live in the Port Adelaide River.

We passed the submarine base, the container ships unloading and the vessels alongside the grain silos being loaded.

It had been particularly cold onboard so on returning to shore we went into the market being held in one of the old warehouses nearby. Having been to many markets which mostly seem to all be the same this one was very good, having a great variety of stalls from antiques to haircutting which Beatrice took advantage of and had her locks trimmed. I just bought a few more books!

We took a round about trip back into Adelaide having a look at some of the outer suburbs until we decided we were tied and hungry so called it a day and so I could listen on the net to the second half of the RL grand final being played in Sydney.
