We Drove down the B100 stopping off after 40 km to see Murphy’s Haystacks which are huge granite inselbergs,  huge rocks purported to be over 1500 million years old. This unique outcrop of pink granite boulders is quite a tourist attraction.

Continuing on down the coast our next stop was Venus Bay a seaside town and a favourite holiday destination for those that love to fish, surf and other offshore activities.

Next off track venture was to drive the cliff top coastal sculpture drive which took us to some magnificent views along with the sculptures from the recent festival and are now located on the cliff top.

This then took us on down to Elliston which features an historic jetty and a mural of the life and times of the town both historical and the present. Its has all been painted on the external walls of the Town Hall.

The continuing drive was quite flat with the land cultivated and looking very green and lush. With good rainfall for the last three months its all looking much better for the farmers this year. It  looked truly magnificent.

On arrival at Port Lincoln we drove out to the caravan park just ensure that we had somewhere to stay for the night. We needn’t have worried as it seemed to be quite empty though they were expecting a full house for the weekend as it is a public holiday and the school holidays have started.

Once set up we drove out to the marina and saw one of the largest working fishing ports in Australia. The Lincoln Cove Marina has been developed with many new residential properties on the waterways and around the vicinity of the port. With many new areas being marked for sub division this is going to be a huge suburb.

We walked down to have a look at the life size statue of three time Melbourne cup winner Makybe  Diva  on the  foreshore. The $180,000 bronzed statue of the supermare stands on the foreshore of Port Lincoln, the home town of her owner Tony Santic who is a fisherman but most well known for owning Makybe Diva.

We checked out the local Maritime museum but unfortunately it was closed!

In the evening we went back to the Marina and enjoyed a great fish dinner  looking out across at the lights of the harbour.
